The author of the book I'm reading (My Life In Dog Years) is Gary Paulsen. He has written Hatchet, Brian's Winter, Lawn Boy, etc. The reason he wrote this book (in my opinion) is because he loves dogs. So why not write a book on something that you love and is close to your heart? Dogs to him are like brothers and best friends he even says he loves dogs in the beginning of the book. So it kind of comes out and tells us in the beginning of the book.
